Hyderabad: In a transformative step toward global decarbonization, AM Green and the Port of Rotterdam Authority have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a global hydrogen green energy supply chain between India and Northwestern Europe, enabling up to 1 million tons of green fuel exports annually and facilitating $1 billion in bilateral green trade.
The collaboration will focus on building infrastructure to support the transportation of green hydrogen derivatives—such as green ammonia, bunkering fuels, and Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF)—from India to Europe via Rotterdam, Europe’s largest energy port and a central hydrogen hub.
This includes the development of terminal facilities and logistics infrastructure both in Rotterdam and along key supply routes.
“This agreement marks a significant step towards establishing a robust supply chain for low-carbon fuels and chemicals,” said Boudewijn Siemons, CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority.
“With India’s vast green hydrogen production potential and Rotterdam’s strategic positioning, the partnership accelerates the energy transition across two continents.”
The proposed supply chain will link India’s emerging Net Zero Industrial Clusters to Europe’s decarbonization goals, forming a critical axis in the global clean energy economy. The infrastructure developed will enable secure and scalable transportation of hydrogen-based products to support industrial decarbonization in Europe.
Accelerating Global Green Hydrogen Trade
AM Green, founded by Anil Chalamalasetty of the Greenko Group, aims to establish 5 million tons per annum (MTPA) of green ammonia production capacity by 2030, equivalent to 1 MTPA of green hydrogen.
The company’s initial projects are underway in Kakinada, India, which will serve as a key export hub for green fuels.
“This partnership is a cornerstone of AM Green’s global growth strategy,” said Anil Chalamalasetty. “By enabling the cross-border flow of green molecules, we are creating a truly global platform for clean energy transition and helping drive down industrial carbon emissions worldwide.”
The Port of Rotterdam, which handles 13% of Europe’s energy imports, is uniquely positioned to act as a logistics gateway for hydrogen and its derivatives into Europe.
The agreement strengthens AM Green’s ambitions to become a leading global player in the clean fuels space and supports both India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and Europe’s net-zero targets.
About AM Green:
